Recreación de la ruta del Desafío Ancha Es Castilla 2022, organizado por Kilómetro Motero
Mixed road surfaces, some rough with potholes, some sublime.
Binnendoor naar Gent Motor Event
Lovely jaunt around the Wiltshire countryside
Good mixture of roads and big sky scenery
A mostly A road route
The LE-142 is a spectacular road with nice corners and a lot of height differences. Tarmac is great, but many blind corners. Just rode this in March 2022 and it was empty. You will cross Bierzo and will see many pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela (same road). So, drive cautious and with respect for others.
Watch out for the cameras
Witney circle route anti-clockwise through Chipping Norton and Burford.
A nice and relaxing road. The traffic between Drobeta Turnu Severin and Orsova (20km) might be crowded. The portion between Orsova and Pojejena is with low traffic. It is a nice road to ride in all 3 seasons and in both directions. Make sure you plan your route so that you have the sun behind; the scenery will be more spectacular this way.
If you are hungry you can find a few nice places to eat along the way. It's better to drive here from Resita than from Moravita. At noon, I recommend you stop in Oravita at "Restaurant Carul cu Flori" (there is a LukOil gas station about 100m away). Then you can have a coffee break in Berzeasca at "Complex Egreta" right above the Danube and finally in the evening you can fill your belly at "Restaurant Taverna Sârbului" in Drobeta Turnul Severin. Here you can choose a simple hotel like Hotel Continental or you can enjoy the the rest of the evening in the outdoor pool of the hotel Riviera by Queens. Usually in the autumn I choose a hotel with some hot sulphurous baths in Herculane, but that's another story.
When I want to ride relaxed, I take as many stops as I like and a lot of pictures; sometimes I can spent 3,5 hours on this 120km route. When I prefer some action, 2 hours it's fine.
Scenic coastal bimble with fast A1 return
Fast A69 to scenic twists of the countryside
From Portree head out to Loch Greshornish and Edinbane, thence to Dunvegan. After visiting the Faerie Castle, head south to Struan and then over the pass back to Portree. A combination of fast swooping main roads and single track mountain roads. Technically challenging.
Starting from outside the chippy in Portree, take the coast road toward the Old Man of Storr, turning left at Staffin to pass the Quirang before heading over the pass to Uig and back to Portree for tea and medals.
Fast 1st leg to bedale then beautiful Yorkshire dales from there
Fast 1st leg to bedale then beautiful Yorkshire dales from there
A nice ride along good fast roads passing Chester and Cheshire Oaks retail Park heading towards Liverpool. Along the front at Wallasey there is a harvester restaurant with a car park give you views over the coast are you having a beer or something to eat.
Avoid in winter unless it's a warm dry winter!
Some sections are in the mountain passes that get blocked with snow any time from late October to April. ( even in mid-may some years).
If you see a fuel stop top-up, is generally my rule if around 1/2 a tank level.
The same for a loo break?
I normally carry a snack or two in the Panniers/Topbox just in case! a liter of fuel in a fuel cell is probably over kill but if you have a Coleman petrol stove and a mini kettle why not? Good chippy at the time of writing on the front at Aberystwyth.
