Gas stops are minimal, consider carrying fuel. Moose and other animals are ever present be aware.
Wild Alaskan beauty. Glaciers, mountains and cool riding by the sea This 520 mile tour on all sealed roads starts from the sea at Homer, then heads northwest to Anchorage and along the Matanuska river east again before heading south back to the sea at Valdez. The route takes in stunning Alaskan views of nature, wildlife, glaciers and mountains. (Image : Eagles at Homer ; Credit : Wikipedia Carl Chapman)
The Alaska Highway, surely one of North Americas best roads.
Pristine wilderness, bear, moose, bison, deere, river fishing. Soaring snow peaked mountains that make Alps look (and actually are) tame by comparison. Gorgeous forests, cute towns as side trips/detours, glaciers literally road-side in summer that you can walk on, hot springs, charming places far apart where you can sleep/eat. Its 2-lane twisty where you can push the envelope on decent asphalt -- but at the risk of a big mammal around the next bend popping out out the woods to say hi. Its as good as nature riding gets within a 1st world country. Highest recommendation, will do it again. Goldwing is fine, as is full-dress Harley, as is an enduro.
Leading on from Seward highway, lots of nature to see, great watery backdrop and some nice corners, very recreational, to be enjoyed in good weather.
A really enjoyable highway route, with good surface, nice corners and amazing scenery. The weather can ruin it, but you might get lucky!
Spectacular scenery and nature, road is of mixed quality, potholed here and there, amazing to see such nature!
Great road for cruising, excellent scenery. This route crosses from AK into Canada and heads north.
Nice road but with very changeable surface, varies from good tarmac to potholed dirt. Otherwise very enjoyable.
The Haines highway travels north, out of Alaska into Canada, there is beautiful scenery and nice sweeping corners.
Partly paved and partly gravel track, this is a beautiful little ride. If you head north there is also a part of the old Edgerton Highway.
Surely one of the most scenic roads in Alaska (if not the US), accessible from Cordova (by ferry!) a few nice little bends but this one is a pure scenery gem.
Lots of Moose to see (and avoid!) so beware. Beautiful Alaskan scenery.
